Spotlight - Lee Muller

Name:    Lee Muller

Nickname:   Fergie

Age:     36

Education:

Plumstead High School

Rugby or sporting background:

Played Rugby all through junior and high school and then sat on the couch till the age of 24 when I was introduced to the Bay by Mike Chowles.

Clubs played for:

only ever played rugby at Bay.

Position played or role if never played:

I've always played front row even though my inner self always believed I was a Centre.

Rugby philosophy:

Geez I was never a talented rugby player but my philosophy since my involvement at the Bay has been to try and contribute positively no matter how small.

Life philosophy:

You first need to survive before you can prosper.

Rugby highlight as a player:

Actually getting to meet Van in person on the field of play when I got my 1st cap for the 1's on the B Field vs Primrose. I remember it clearly and often read my journal entry for that day (Love you Van).

Rugby highlight in your role:

Winning promotion from SLB was pretty special but to be honest just being involved is a weekly highlight for me.

Favourite Club Player:

Tough question because  there are some special head cases out there - Van,Vlam,TB,Snoops,Annas,RD but my fav would be Vleis. I remember watching him play his 1st game for the 1's as an under 20. A pretty unassuming guy with all the talent in the world.

Favourite Coach:

Mine @ Bay - Kallie Pretorius, there was something about his goodbyes that I'll never forget.

@ club overall has to be The VD Show - I've never seen a more prepared coach who is such a proper rugger bugger.

How do you chill?

I take time out with my boy (usually at the Bay hahahah).

What are your aspirations for the Bay?

I'm a pretty superstitious guy when it comes to questions like this so I'll just say :-  That it's success on the field Mirrors the effort off the field by all involved.

What is it about the Bay that inspires you?

Belief - in itself, it's people and society as a whole. We don't live in bubbles.  We live in real times, often tough times but we should  always believe.

Who at False Bay inspires you?

I take inspiration from many in different ways but if I had to pick one it would be Kevin Lennet.

What do you do to relax or what are your interests outside of rugby?

Outside of rugby I try spend time with my 5 year old son and traveling when I can.
