Education:

Quite a few but landed up Matriculating by myself. I wrote my exams at Zwaanswyk HS while coaching the First Team.

 

Rugby or sporting background:

All my schools where small and never had sport. The first time I touched a rugby ball, I was 17 and thought I would try out rugby at the Bay.

 

Clubs played for:

False Bay and the University of Bath

 

Position played:

I was born a prop, but have been coaching the U20Bs for the past 3 years.

 

Rugby philosophy:

Go hard or go home. feel the game, trust your instinct and those around you.

 

Life philosophy:

'ELE' everybody love everybody, always.

 

Rugby highlight as a player:

Being a part of the first Bay 3rd team to beat Marties in Stellenbosh.

 

Rugby highlight in your role:

Being a part of the U20 coaching team at the finals at Newlands. I always get goosebumps when I see youngsters excelling. It’s most probably the reason I love coaching.

 

Favourite Club Player:

There are lots, but I think Snoopy and Marc Davids epitomise what it means to be a Bay Man. 

 

Favourite Coach:

Kurt Botha was most probably the most influential coach I had. He gave me an opportunity and made me believe in myself. 

 

Family background:

I lost my Mom and my Dad a few years ago and since then the Bay has come to be my adopted family.

 

How do you chill?

With a beer and friends at the Bay

 

What are your aspirations for the Bay?

I hope to one day have my own parking spot that says Coach.

 

What is it about the Bay that inspires you?

Bay is a place for everyone. Great things happen there all the time. Being part of False Bay is like being part of somthing special. 

 

Who at False Bay inspires you?

Vd and Slab have been my biggest inspirations at False Bay. They have been a big influence in my time at the Bay. They taught me what it takes and have helped me reach many goals. 

 

What do you do to relax or what are your interests outside of rugby?

I have looked around but nothing really interests me outside of rugby. Rugby is my life, it’s all I have ever needed.
