Rugby philosophy:

Game by game.

Life philosophy:

Have a good balance between family, work and play. Don't take life to seriously and approach everything with an open mind.

Rugby highlight as a player:

Too many over the years but if I had to pick a few it would be all the tours with the various teams I have played in - some good friends made over the years and very strange memories. Yes yes and beating all those teams who beat us as well over the years :)

Rugby highlight in your role:

U20s - coaching TB and Josh Lan (hazards and good times)

3rds - coaching with the late Kurt Botha (his team talks - priceless)

2nds - Beating all the student teams ( all the chirps and gees)

1st XV - Every game we get to take the field is a highlight

Favourite Club Player:

Past time - Shaune Pypers and Luke Baker

Recent time - Justin van Winkel, Michael Poppmeier and Danie Roux

All 4 above had and have great talent.

Favourite Coach/es :

Louis Botha, Kevin Musikanth

Family background / make up:

I don't come from a huge sporting family however all played sports at school and support many sports as spectators now. I played soccer growing up and many other sports later on.  I was never the best at one sport but could play all sports so always found myself in a team.

How do you chill?

In recent years it has been completing triathlons and doing a bit of Crossfit and trail running on the side. Best way to take your mind off things

What are your aspirations for the Bay?

To produce provincial players. In 10-15 years time to see the Bay with still as much gees and being competitive in the league

What is it about the Bay that inspires you?

You can be rich and own half of Cape Town you can be poor and not so well off - at the Bay you are just a person who has a passion for the game we all love. Everyone is always friendly even the FIFOs :)

Who at False Bay inspires you?

All those on the False Bay Committee inspire me, the amount of work, time, effort and sacrifice that goes in to making sure all players, coaches, management, spectators enjoy their rugby at the BAY is no easy task. But together everyone makes it happen

What do you do to relax or what are your interests outside of rugby?

First and foremost is spending time with my wife – Kathryn. As a coach or player the sacrifice is huge to be a part of the BAY family - it is a lifestyle but does require the help and assistance from our families and loved ones.

Sport, sport and more sport outside of rugby. Running, surfing, cycling, lifting weights, golf, touch rugby whatever and whenever time and weather allows. The odd Braai and haf haf :)
