KROS'S KORNER WEEK 3

DoR, MIKE KROS SUBMITTED THIS ROUND UP

SEVEN FROM SEVEN !!!!

This past Friday was one of mixed emotion , many saying there last farewells to friend & club stalwart Mark Seaward , whilst on the field , our 5ths did well to hold onto a win after dominating the first half against UCT.

It certainly was an entertaining game with both sides scoring 4 tries each. Well done to Zak Scheepers , one of our regular Crocks players for scoring two tries.Final score 25-24.

Unfortunately UCT U20C team failed to pitch which was a great disappointment for the youngsters who were itching to take the field . I was later informed that the UCT team had in fact been withdrawn from the league (WP have no record of it).

Our 4ths travelled to Goodwood & although they bagged a great win- Final score 27-3 , they must have been a bit disappointed in not getting that vital 4th try for the extra bonus point . Nevertheless , a great result away .

On Sat, our 4 teams made the long trek to Kuilsriver where we were warmly received by the hosts .

Our U20 A started proceeding with a 5 try to nil win over the counterparts. Final score 31-3. Some great running rugby on display. Good work Bossie & Phil.

The 3’s, our only unbeaten side ran out on the A field a few minutes later & certainly entertained our crowd with a final score of 65-8 win & scored 11 tries in the process. I guess it would be hard to pick the stand out players as it was a great team effort that allowed this result. Let’s keep it going.

The 2’s coming off their first defeat in 25 games against Vic’s , bounced back well to run in 9 tries in a display which continued the entertaining rugby. Many of those players putting their hands up for 1st team selection. Again a great team effort. Final score 63-8. Unfortunately we lost two players in the process , Emile Olivier – pulled hammie & prop Roberto Lupini (concussion).

It was a nervous start for the 1’s when a charge down kick in the first 20 sec of the game resulted in a quick try which was converted & then later conceded a 3 pointer from a penalty . Enough was enough & the Bay settled into the game & dominated play from thereon .

Some lovely displays from a number of individuals , our forwards did just about everything the coach could have hoped for which set up great attacking ball for our backs. 7 tries to 1 – final score 47-10. Injury count , not so good .. so we are hoping those carrying niggles will be quickly treated & back on the field by Sat .
